R. Mark Evans OBE

Mark Evans has been a member of the New Zealand Police executive for the past 10 years and has held a wide range of portfolios. He has been the intelligence lead for a range of high-profile events including the 15th March 2019 Christchurch terrorist attack. In 2017 Mark led on establishing the NZ Evidence Based Policing Centre. Prior to moving to New Zealand, Mark was Director of Analytical Services with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Mark is a Visiting Professor at University College London. Mark has a BA (First Class Honours) in International Relations from Keele University and an MBA (with Distinction) from Manchester Business School. He is a graduate of the New Zealand Institute of Strategic Leadership and a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management In 2022 he was inducted into the Evidence Based Policing Hall of Fame at George Mason University, USA and made a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Intelligence Professionals. Mark was made an OBE in the New Year’s Honours 2006 for services to policing in Northern Ireland
