How can the police service equip its workforce to tackle crime in an age where it is being transformed by new technology and wider social change?
The Police Foundation’s 11th annual conference formed part of our Strategic Review of Policing which will set out substantial recommendations for a modern police service capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
The conference focused on the following themes:
- Recruitment and retention: reflecting on the progress so far with Operation Uplift.
- What kind of skills and knowledge will be required due to future demand and can we plan to fill projected gaps?
- Diversity: how can we achieve a police service that is representative of the communities it serves?
- Learning and development: looking at the impact of the College of Policing’s Policing Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF), the relationship with universities and the prospects for continuing professional development (CPD).
- Wellbeing: looking at how we can instil a culture that supports the workforce wellbeing agenda.
- Evidence based policing: how can it move from the margins to the mainstream?
- Data driven technology and the difference it can make to the work of frontline officers.
The conference took place online and featured some of the UK’s leading thinkers and practitioners on policing.
The Police Foundation is a registered charity (no. 278257). Funds raised from this event will be invested in the work of the Foundation to deliver better policing and create a safer society.
